“Happy Trails” is an infograph about how the American travel industry was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. While this project was created during the height of the pandemic, information on this poster is bound to change as more data is released to the public on credible sources.
I wanted to create an infograph that really captures the viewer’s attention. I chose magenta as the primary color because it’s loud, exciting, and happy. Things I didn’t feel in the beginning of the pandemic. Typography and illustration combine and highlight the important information; numbers. I find people tend to get overwhelmed by numbers text. So, I chose to let numbers come to front and let the body copy move to back. After reading the poster, you given solutions that you can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 if you plan on traveling.
As a bonus, I created a motion graphic in the same style, but about the COVID-19 Vaccine. You can view and learn about this short video near the bottom of the page.
I was inspired by the shock factor of the information I found on the topic. It really grabs your attention doesn't it?

The COVID-19 Pandemic was I think one of the most depressing times to date. The reason being was the building of uncertainty and self-isolation. A lot of the information being released was cold and really didn't do a great job teaching people about this virus. Being stuck at home was non-beneficial to my mental health and I wanted to use art to mend my emotional scars. I always like the idea that humor can be used as a teaching tool. From all the despair and loneliness, I think people could spare 1 minute to laugh and smile.
